My father’s legacy

Growing up, our family always had people from small villages living with us as they looked for a job or ways to better their lives. Even though we didn’t have much, my earliest memories is of my father sharing what we did have, providing food and a safe place to stay so others could have new opportunities. These villagers weren’t educated or sophisticated and sometimes the neighbors shook their heads. My father never blinked.

He saw people for who they were, and what they could be.

It’s human nature to look at people through the prism of ourselves but when we look at it from the perspective of others, connection points are revealed. Strangers become friends, groups grow more dynamic, and

life becomes richer as it’s shared with people who have different backgrounds, opinions, experiences from your own.

“Do all things with love.”

-Bahram Akradi

So today, and every day, may we all focus on what unites us, and continually open the door to welcome in all people, to our homes, to our hearts. Together, discovering a future of possibilities.
